More April Challenges

Toni's challenge for us this month: use foliage, flowers & animals on it. They are to be the predominant theme - you can use whatever photo you like, one word title, some journalling. This was the day in 2002 that our daughter moved to Western Australia to commence her Vet career.

The delightful Terri set a toughie this month. She enjoys experimenting with great techniques. So her challenge to us this month was to create a shaped LO using a minimum of 25 squares measuring approx 3.5cms/1.5"

Magical Musical Tour - Country

Another great musical challenge set for us to do. The Country Criteria: Kraft CS, fabric, sewing (hand OR machine -- NOT fake), habadashery (buttons, pins, tape, trims etc), wire, chipboard, stamping, inking, and rusting (inks, paints, pre-made embellies, or T!m's fab rust technique)

Magical Musical Tour - Tango

The Criteria: predominantly red and black, two photos (cos it takes two to tango), no journalling, 2 different kinds of embellies (as many of each as you wish), 2 word title and 2 techniques.
This was another difficult challenge. I used 2 photos from my son's 18th birthday party, 2 types of embellise - words & rub ons, 2 techniques - masking & inking.

Blind Scrap

I have been pretty slack with updating my blog in the last couple of weeks but I started back at work on 12th April. It is so hard to take after having 17 weeks off on long service leave. I really miss being able to scrap wheever the mood takes me. I have been finding it hard to find the time now with all the planning, etc that has to be done for school.
A couple of weeks ago we took Dad out for a picnic lunch at Fingal and I was able to use the photos in the Blind Scrap we had over at Art as part of the monthly cyber crop. I changed the colour to chocolate using an action in PSE7 to fit in with the colour scheme.

Magical Musical Tour - Charleston

This was an extremely difficult subject to scrap. Many of the girls said how difficult it was but then what's the sense of an easy challenge. It took me quite a while to come up with an idea but I was really happy with the completed layout. I used the musical Chicago for my subject. The criteria for this challenge were - use fringing/tassels, sequins, a film strip and rich colours.
I cut the film strip using a sizzix die and glued som small photos into it, attached fringing to the bottom of the photo added red sparkly ricrac braid and star confetti. For the title I used the Cricut Cartridge Lyrical Letters to cut out the basic word. I then glued the letters onto white CS & cut around them. The difficult part was getting the sequins to stick on the black lettering. I also used my ticket from the show.

Picnic At Fingal

We had a fabulous day out. We packed up a picnic lunch & headed down the Gold Coast. After collecting Dad we went for a drive down to Fingal in Northern NSW. We picnicked on the banks of the Tweed River.

It was very relaxing watching all the boats & jet-skis going up & down the River.

April Challenges

For this colour challenge we had to use grey based pastels & white. We were allowed to do digi for this one so I chose that option. I have extracted the faces of my 2 grandsons gazing at each other and applied ScrapGirls action Sketch It to give a painted look. The blues are all grey based with the white on the word 'adore'.

For Tabitha's card challenge the only criteria was to use gathered ribbon or patterned paper.

This is my take on the Marie Antoin-ette's Revenge challenge - Journaling with stickers:
1 CS / PP back-ground
2 CS / PP photo matts
Stickers - to tell your journaling
Title - as you wish
NO EMBELLISHMENTS
Wicked Twist - Now Girls You Are On Your HONOUR - you can take as much time to sort and gather your stash
BUT when you start your LO you MUST DOWN TOOLS AT 30 MINUTES and upload your LO.

I managed to complete this LO in 27 minutes.

Magical Musical Tour - Mini Challenge

This mini challenge involved creating a bookmark to reflect the Glam-Rock era. I have used photos of David Bowie, glitter & KindyGlitz.

Embellishmetn Swap

I am taking part in an embellishment swap over at Artistic Document. These are my contribution. It is great fun to take part in swaps and even more fun when you receive your parcel in the post.

Magical Musical Tour - Punk

Another great challenge to get us thinking outside the box. A ripping good time was had by all who part-icipated as one of the criteria was ripping/tearing/distressing. These are not techniques that I usually use but I did have fun tearing. Such different criteria every time. I honestly don't know how the DT digs up all these different techniques. This time we had to use 'moody' colours, ripping and distressing, pins and/or staples, messy stitching and tartan. The photo is of my two sons when they both decided to blonde their hair. The younger (taller) of my boys often blondes his hair but my older boy has very dark hair and this definitely did not suit him.

Magical Musical Tour - Disney Tunes

And the musical adventure continues. Sorry I'm a bit late adding this one. For our Week 4 challenge we had to create an animation-inspired LO using the following criteria: cartoon/comicbook style, cutwork, layers, bright colours and doodling. The photos I used are of my Grandson having a great old chasing game at the park during one of our visits to Perth. I altered the photos using a comic action to give the effect of a comic book page.
