Got Sketch Express2 - Sketch #5

The fifth sketch from Got Sketch Express2 was a bit tricky trying to get all the hanging banners to fit in equally. But I was quite happy with the finished product.

Rhys was having fun playing with mum's hairbrush. I used mostly Kaiser products - PP % Brads, with the Fiskars Threading WAter edge punch.

Challenge #5 - China

Travelling on over at AD ( http://www.artisticdocument.com/index.php?topic=3600.0 ) we have now arrived in China.
Inspiration comes from the great Wall and beautiful colours.
Technique: Colour blocking.
Criteria:
1.. compass & maps
2.. must use some red
3.. THE STAMP
4.. landscape photo(s)
5.. a Chinese/oriental element somewhere (charm, coin etc)

Challenge #4 - New Dehli, India

As well as doing my Sketches I have still been travelling around the world over at Artistic Document
Before arriving at our fourth destination, we had another mini challenge to complete - a tag. We had to doodle on a tag that must then be used on one of our journey LO's

Our 4th stop over was new Dehli India.
The inspiration for this one is BRIGHT COLOURS.
Technique: Doodling
Criteria:
1.. ON Black, White or Kraft CS + ONE PP only {if double sided you may use both sides}
2.. Tickets
3.. Bling of some description
4.. Group Photo 4 or more people/animals
5.. Don't forget your STAMP

I inked my PP to get the various colours. I used Marvy pens to colour my doodling that I copied from my PP. My stamp is just underneath the photo across the top of the 2 pieces of PP. I doodled on the white background before placing the main LO.

Got Sketch Express2 - Sketch #4

Slowly catching up with the sketches. The Got Sketch Express2 class has actually finished but I am only halfway with the LO's. This is my take on Sketch #4. When we visited Las Vegas it was great to see The Strip by day compared to all the flashy lights at night.

Got Sketch Express2 - Sketch #3

Here is my third sketch from Got Sketch Express2

It is so much fun to use a sketch to plan a LO. And these are great sketches.

Got Sketch Expres2 - Sketch #2

Finished this one last night. I am loving the sketches from Got Sketch Express2

Cricut Cartridge Storage

I have been wanting to organise my Cricut Cartridges for some time now so they are easy to access without having to go through piles of boxes looking for the one I wanted. After searching the web & U-Tube I finally found a way to store them.
Previously they were stored one on top of each other in 2 piles in a very narrow place. I would have to pull out the front pile to access the back pile or to even read the side of the case.
So I have gone from this:

To this, a neat & compact way to store and carry:

I will arrange the books in alphabetical order with a small tag attached to the spine for ease of identification. The overlays are stored in the book.

The cartridges are held in place by velcro dots applied ot the back of the cartridge & the lid of the box.

The box measures approximately 13 1/2" x 9" x 6 1/2". There is room for more books and an extra layer of cartridges could easily be added.

September Cyber Crop

All things floral.....Oh no!! not a flower themed CC. I just don't do flowers very well on LO's.

The revenge of the DT - Buy an A4 folder (the one with the plastic on the front/back and side where you can insert a decorative cover) OR make a mini.

Each of the DT has tutotials or instructions for 2 flowers. By the time we had completed this challenge we would have a book of tutorials on flowers. We had to make each of the flowers and then use one on a LO.

I chose to make a mini folder to store the tutorials:

These were my completed flowers:

I used one of the flowers by Kym on my blog hop challenge.
Criteria - inking, chipboard, handmade flower, a postage stamp, a bird, a birdcage, sanding, sparkle, a handmade tag for journaling or title and buttons.
And the finished product -

The window frame around the photo is from ScrapGirls Garden View collection.

Challenge #3 - Istanbul, Turkey

The third leg of our journey is to Istanbul, Turkey
http://www.artisticdocument.com/index.php?topic=3526.0
The inspiration for this challenge is the beautiful tiles of Turkey and all the beautiful repeat patterns in them.
Technique: Embossing of the stamped variety. I have painted the tiles in bright colours then stamped the ferris wheel on top. I heat embossed this with black embossing powder.
Criteria:
1.. In this LO we had to use a chipboard shape { circle, square diamond etc } in a repeat pattern to form a type of tile effect. I chose a rectangle.
2.. Flourishes. I have stamped these at the top & bottom of the LO.
3.. at least 5 different colours in your PPS and embellies, PLUS whatever amounts of black and white you need to use.

We also had to use our chosen stamp. Mine is under the photo in the top left of the LO. I have used the banners to create the effect of a Turkish Bazaar.
This is my take on the challenge:

I chose Springtime by Monet:

Technique:Sewing/Frivolity either machine of hand but NO faux sewing and it can be on a the page or on an embellishment .. I have done this on the butterfly

Mini Challenge #1

For our first mini challenge in the comp we had to make an embellishment. http://www.artisticdocument.com/index.php?topic=3467.0 Easy you say - hmmm!
* you can ONLY make it from chippie
* you must decorate it in steampunk style
* you must use ONLY metal on it -- watch parts, brads, chain, jewellery, beads, charms etc -- but they MUST be metal
* you must use your stamp somewhere
* you can't use ANYTHING else on it apart from ink, paint etc on the background.

So here is my chippie embellishment. I cut it on the Cricut using the Street Sign cartridge. I used Vintage Photo Distress Powder & ink to give it a rusty look then pulled apart an old watch to get all the workings to stick on it.

I decide I would make this as part of the title on the cover of my mini album. For the comp we could choose to do 12 x 12 LOs or an 8 x 8 mini album. I chose the latter.

Around the World in 80 Days - Challenge 1 London England

Over at Artistic Document we are just beginning our journey around the world in 80 days. Who knows what surprises are in store for us (except the DT of course). Throughout this competition we will be doing a challenge every 8 days over 10 weeks. http://www.artisticdocument.com/index.php?topic=3376.0 There will also be mini challenges thrown in as well.

This is the first: The connection to London England is the photo of my grandfather who came to Australia from England as a young boy of 7.

Inspiration : Vintage - dawn of the Mechanical Age
Technique : Steampunk
1. Pick a stamp and use on every project through the comp.
2. Grunge
3. metal
4. distress
5. clockface or timepiece

My stamp is one of Tim Holtz birds on a wire.(Just above the title)
I have distressed and inked the edges of the photo & the paper.
The cogs were done using Tim Holtz distress ink & distress powder (Vintage Photo) to give a rusty look.
The clock/timepiece was cut from Bo Bunny Timepiece paper. The background PP is also from the same Bo Bunny range.

More monthly challenges for August

Miss Kym set the colour challenge to use cream, green, orange and brown - preferable the softer tones. I did a digi LO.

Megan's challenge was to make a LO without using any flowers - not a hard task for me as I don't often use flowers. We had to follow our theme and use transparencies with a red, white & blue colour scheme.

Terri set us a Denim & Lace challenge with no other criteria. I did a digi LO for this one too.

August Blind SCrap

This is the end product of our Blind Scrap. We had to use masking and glimmermist to create the frames, a swag (banner) at least 12inches long for the title & journaling in the border. We also had to make clusters with the clouds & juse 4 small embellishments.

August Cyber Crop

Last Friday we had our Cyber Crop over at AD. This month's theme was Man o' Man as it is nearing Father's Day. Challenges included making a Father's Day card, a mini album for our Dad/Hubby/Man in our life, a wallet, something for our man specifically for his man cave or office, a LO the size of a Credit Card with a family photo, laminated for His wallet and an ATC of a famous man. Here are my takes on these challenges:

My Father's Day Card set by Terri:

The wallet challenge set by Toni:

The poster for the office:

Credit card LO by Marie - Front & Back:

ATC of a famous man - Capt james Cook - set by Ann(GDT)

Another great night of fun & games was had by all.

GDT challenges

With the introduction of Guest Design Team members drawn from our ranks we saw some wonderful challenges emerging. This mini album challenge was set by Maree.

Next it was my turn to set the GDT challenges. The monthly challenge was to use B/W or sepia photos, cut work, 'Remember when' somewhere in the title & bling.

And for the Cyber Crop I did a digi challenge - surprise, surprise. However the LO could be totally digi, a hybrid or a fully paper LO. Requirements: 3 or more PP, layers, multiple photos, tearing & an overlay/transparency. All my digi elements were from ScrapGirls.

A bit of catch-up

I have been very slack lately when it comes ot up-dating my blog so here are a few of my latest creations.

For this challenge we were presented with a Bingo card and had to create a layout using a "line" of criteria. Mine included - a sepia photo, one brand, subtitle, an edge punch & a sketch. The LO also had to include a title & journaling. This was the sketch by Becky Fleck from Page Maps that I used.

The lovely Ann set an Inspiration challenge. We had to use paint, ink or misting. I used inking on the flowers.

Our fearless leader set us a lyric challenge using the lyrics from Angel's Lullaby by Reba McIntyre. The criteria included a photo of our beautiful children as babies, pastel colours & shabby style.

The lovely Kym set us up with another sketch challenge. This is my resulting LO. At this rate I will have a completed wedding album in no time.

Steampunk ATC Swap

At Artistic Document we recently held a Steampunk ATC swap. Not being familiar with this style of scrapping I was a bit reluctant to join in. After googling what it was all about I decided to leap outside my safe little square & have a go. This was the result. Although it has turned out okay I don't really think this is my style of scrapping but at least I had a go.
